GLP-1 (7-36) Amide

Native GLP-1 peptide fragment. Short-acting precursor to semaglutide and liraglutide analogs.

  • Stimulates insulin secretion glucose-dependently
  • Reduces glucagon release
  • Slows gastric emptying
  • Reduces appetite and food intake
  • Cardiovascular protective effects
  • Neuroprotective in research models
Very short half-life makes SubQ impractical. Research use mainly IV.
~1–2 minutes (rapidly degraded by DPP-4)
  • Native form impractical for therapeutic use due to very short half-life
  • Long-acting analogs (semaglutide, liraglutide) are preferred clinically
Hypoglycemia if not glucose-dependent dosing. GI upset.
